Kate: What has been the most difficult trial of your life?
Caleb: Knowing what I want to be when I grow up. I knew I wanted to be a writer since the second grade. If I had a dime for every time someone told me, "Writing is not a career," or "You'll never make any money that way," I'd never want for money again.
Kate: Wow! Plot twist! Most people struggle for years on end with figuring out what it is they want to be. I guess in some cases it's a champagne problem.
Caleb: Recognizing the path you want to take makes it no easier to walk. I'm stumbling around in the dark, figuring things out as I go, just like everybody else. Now my struggle is having to live in a world where writers are heckled as the bottom-feeders of starving artists instead of revered for the wordsmiths they are.
