Caleb: I met a guy standing in the checkout at the grocery store today. I was using my phone as an e-reader for the latest Neil Gaiman novel. This old man had the audacity to scoff at my use of a smartphone and called me a spoiled Millennial. Can you believe that? A Millennial!
Kate: Technically speaking, we are Millennials. Howe and Strauss define the Millennial cohort as consisting of individuals born between 1982 and 2004. Turning thirty doesn’t exclude us from this demographic, unfortunately.
Caleb: That’s a twenty-two year span! A lot changed over the course of twenty-two years. I might have been on my smartphone at the time, but I was using it to read a book: something I feel like most Millennials don’t even do nowadays. I remember when we didn’t have internet; they don’t.
Kate: Don’t let him get to you. Baby Boomers were raised by parents who survived poverty, war, and the sacrifice of a generation burdened with great morals. They experienced better economic and physical security than we’ll ever see in our lifetimes. That dude had it way better than we did; he’s just too old to realize it.
